Established in 1986 under the visionary leadership of Catholic Archbishop Emeritus Dr. Peter Kwesi Sarpong, with support from concerned citizens and church leaders, the Kumasi Cheshire Home, a non-profit mental health organisation has been a cornerstone of compassion and service in the community.
With a mission to rehabilitate and reintegrate adult psychiatric patients between the ages of 18 and 55 into society, the home offers a holistic approach to healing, encompassing medication, occupational therapy, counseling, and religious activities. Guided by a vision to empower individuals to become economically, psychologically, and socially active contributors to society, the Kumasi Cheshire Home stands as a testament to the transformative power of compassion and solidarity.

Partnering with esteemed institutions such as Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, and supported by philanthropic donations and token fees, the home continues to be a beacon of hope, offering a sanctuary of healing and renewal for those in need. Kumasi Cheshire Home rehabilitates psychiatric patients with all known mental conditions except epilepsy, for effective reintegration into their communities safe and sound.
Kumasi Cheshire Home is a partner of Leonard Cheshire Disability Global Alliance and a member of the West Africa Regional Council with Headquarters in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
At the heart of this endeavors lives a commitment to inclusivity and empowerment. Through strategic communication strategies and meaningful community engagement, the campaign seeks to empower individuals to prioritize their mental well-being and seek the support they deserve. By breaking down barriers and promoting dialogue, we aim to create a ripple effect of positive change that transcends the walls of the Kumasi Cheshire home, reaching into the hearts and minds of the wider community.
